Another Award comes to Emyvale.

It is not totally correct to say that Emyvale won the award but Emyvale player Ciara McAnespie picked up her first All-Star award at the O’Neills/TG4 Ladies Football AllStar night in City West Hotel, Dublin, on Saturday night last, Nov 14th. Monaghan had five nominations - Niamh Kindlon, Amanda Casey, Edel Byrne, Ciara and Aoife McAnespie.  Two of these received the All Star Award - Ciara and Edel Byrne.

It is a great honour to get the nomination and terrific to get the Award and we congratulate Ciara and Edel for this fantastic achievement. Ciara plays a vital role in the life and success of the Emyvale Ladies team, as does the rest of the family. Everyone involved in the club and the area is delighted with this well deserved award.

It was a hectic weekend for Ciara and the family. They attended the All-Star Ceremony in Dublin on Saturday night and then travelled to Belfast for the 12.45 throw-in of the Emyvale V Shane O’Neills Ulster Club Junior Championship semifinal for the men. Then it was back to Emyvale, where Dad, Vincie, was involved with preparations for the next round of the X Factor next Saturday night.

Ciara was presented with her All-Star award by Pat Quill, President, Cumann Peil Gael na mBan, in the company of Tony Towell, O'Neills; Mary Davis, Managing Director, Special Olympics Europe / Eurasia and Pol O Gallchoir, Ceannsai, TG4.

Ciara’s mother, Brenda, who is still a major player with Emyvale, won her first All Star Award in 1996 and followed it up with two further All-Star awards in 1997 and 1999.

Ciara now has a trip to Dubai to look forward to as the AllStar team will play an exhibition game there in January 2010. Again our congratulations to Ciara and Aoife and we wish you both further success.

Ciara and Aoife.
