The Gloria Corrigan Memorial Tournament.
16 U14 Girls teams from Monaghan, Tyrone and Louth participated in a football blitz at Tully on Saturday, July 25th 2009. This event is organised in memory of the late Gloria Corrigan, Oriel Park, Emyvale, who lost her life as a result of an accident on the Blayney to Dundalk road, while she was rendering assistance to others, who had crashed their car before she came along. Gloria was a very popular and hardworking member of the Emyvale club and gave a great commitment to the youth of the area.
Monaghan Harps won the Shield competition while the Overall Winners were the girls from Truagh. There followed a Challenge Game, and it sure was a challenge for many of them, played by Gloria’s footballing friends. This provided much laughter and enjoyment and one could not but remember how much fun Gloria would have added to the occasion. Well done to all concerned for a great day of sport.
