New Boat Jetty At Emy Lake.

Emy and District Anglers Club in association with the Central Fisheries Board, is developing the fishing potential at Emy Lake and providing extra facilities for the anglers. One of the additions is a new boat jetty and our pictures, courtesy of Enda Fields, show the work in progress. The Official Opening of the jetty took place on Saturday, July 18th at 12 noon and a big crowd attended.

The Blessing and the Cutting of the Ribbon on the new jetty was performed by PP Fr. Hubert Martin. Dan Gormley, chairman of the club, gave the background to the project and thanked the people involved in bringing it to fruition. He also said that the Lake is fishing well at the moment and invited people to join the club.

Enda Fields announced that he is organising a Fishing Instruction Class for young anglers under 16 years on Saturday next at the Swimming side from 10am to noon and encouraged parents to get their children to get involved.

After the opening ceremony there was a BBQ and all enjoyed a wonderful social occasion and were part of what is a major effort to boost the tourism potential of the area.

Some of those who attended standing on the new Jetty while a couple of them rested in the boats.
