Official Reopening of St. Patrick’s Corracrin.
The ceremony to mark the Blessing and Official Reopening of St. Patrick’s RC Church, Corracrin, was held on Friday, June 19th 2009. It began with a Mass and Blessing ceremony in the Church. The chief celebrant was Bishop Duffy and the mass was concelebrated by a number of priests from the diocese and some of these had ministered in Donagh Parish in the past. The present PP. Fr. Hubert martin, thanked everyone responsible for the refurbishment of the Church and mentioned the architects, contractors and parish finance committee in particular. He also has words of thanks for the great support and assistance he received from Fr. Cathal Deery, CC in the Parish.
Everyone then adjourned to the Leisure Centre where a sumptuous supper was served. The All-Ireland Scor Dancing champions performed to the delight of the crowd and then the Parish Draw was held. Afterwards John, Paul and Martin provided the music for dancing and a very enjoyable evening was had by all.
The Draw was a resounding success, raising almost 68,000 euro. The prizes were as follows: €3,000 - Moira McKenna, Toneycoogan; €2,000 - Sarah McKenna, Enagh; €1,500 - Kevin McNally, c/o
