‘An Capall Dubh & Scéalta Eile’ Book Launch in Monaghan

Is cúis mhór bróid í do Ghaeil an cheantar go raibh an scríbhneoir ildánach Pádraig Ó Baoighill ag cur a leabhair nua “An Capall Dubh agus scéalta eile’ foilsithe ag Coiscéim i lár an aonaigh I dTeach an Mhargaidh, Muineachán, le déanaí.
It's a source of great pride to the people of Monaghan that renowned author Pádraig Ó Baoighill presented his latest book 'An Capall Dubh agus scéalta eile' published by Coiscéim to the public in the Market House, Monaghan on Thursday 15th March at 7:30pm. 
Fear Gaeltachta ó Rann na Feirste, Tír Chonaill is ea é Pádraig Ó Baoighill cé go bhfuil cónaí air le fada an lá i mBaile Mhuineacháin. Is scríbhneoir cruthaitheach agus acadúil é Pádraig agus tá an t-uafas leabhar dá chuid foilsithe agus tuilleadh oibre idir láimhe aige i gcónaí. Is iriseoir agus craoltóir é Pádraig chomh maith a bhfuil a shaol caite aige ag treabhadh ghort na Gaeilge. Aithnítear é mar shaoi eolais agus, agus dar ndóigh tá na céadta gradam bainte amach aige. Bhronn Ollscoil Uladh, Cúil Raithin dochtúireacht oinigh sa litríocht air in 2005 fosta.
From Rann na Feirste Gaeltacht in Donegal, Pádraig Ó Baoighill has been living in Monaghan for many years. Both a creative and an academic writer Pádraig has had a multitude of his work published over the years, and continues to have many ongoing projects also. A broadcaster and journalist also Pádraig has spent his life working through Irish. His many works have been recognised for their importance. Pádraig was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Ulster in 2005 for his vital work.

Tarraingíonn Pádraig ar a fhód dúchais do chuid mhór de na scéalta, chomh maith céanna le a shamhlaíocht draíochtúil. I measc na dtéamaí a phléann sé, tá an grá, an ceol, an imirce, an cearrbhachas, an lucht siúil, trioblóidí an tuaiscirt, an Ghaeltacht, saol na cathrach, oileáin na hAlban, cúrsaí spóirt agus go leor leor eile nach iad. Saibhreas agus saíocht chanúint dhúchasach Thír Chonaill atá sna scéalta seo, le stór leathan focal fite fuaite ó cheantair Ghaeltachta eile tríothu.
In this new publication, Pádraig gives us a unique insight into the universal themes of life. This variety of themes come to life in the twenty plus stories in ‘
An Capall Dubh agus scéalta eile’. Pádraig draws on experiences from his birthplace and his magical imagination for many of the stories. Stories which deal with, love, music, emigration, gambling, the travelling community, the troubles, sport,  An Ghaeltacht, city life, the Scottish islands and many other. These tales contain a wealth of richness and mastery of phrase of native Donegal Irish, as well as weaving through the stories a broad vocabulary from the various Gaeltacht regions.
Chuir Muineachán Le Gaeilge i gcomhpháirtíocht le Comhairle Contae Mhuineacháin, Teach an Mhargaidh, An Comhairle Ealaíon agus Éire Ildánach fáilte chroíúil roimh bhaill an phobail a bhí i láthair ag an ócáid thaitneamhach seo. Bhí Pádraig Ó Baoighill é féin iontach sásta go raibh Caitríona Ní Chléirchín ó Mhuineachán ag seoladh an leabhair go hoifigiúil ar an oíche. Saineolaí litríochta eile is ea í Caitríona. Is file, criticeoir agus léachtóir í as Scairbh na gCaorach. Tá cliú agus cáil ar a cuid filíochta féin ar fud an domhain agus aithnítear í mar ‘liriceoir nua an ghrá’ as Gaeilge. Tá scoth na hoibre déanta aici ar fhilíocht chomhaimseartha na Gaeilge agus ar an scríbhneoireacht trí chéile.

Muineachán Le Gaeilge in conjuction with Monaghan County Council, The Market House, The Arts Council and Creative Ireland extended a warm welcome to the public attending this enjoyable book launch. Pádraig Ó Baoighill himself, was particularly delighted that Monaghan’s own Caitríona Ní Chléirchín officially launched his book. Caitríona is a literary expert in her own right. Her poetry is renowned worldwide and she is recognised as the Irish languages’ modern day ‘lyricist of love’. She is an expert in the literary field with a particular expertise in modern Irish poetry.
