Mikado in St. Louis

Transition Year students from St Louis Secondary School, Monaghan have staged their production of Hot Mikado, the all-singing, all-dancing, hilarious comedy version of Gilbert and Sullivan's popular operetta, The Mikado. Directed and choreographed by Lynn Jackson, with musical direction from Ms Marie Fortune-Henry, the show lives up to the high standards associated with performances from St. Louis students. I attended last night (Wednesday) and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Brilliant in every aspect and a packed house to boot. Thanks to all the girls for their powerful performances and to the students and staff for their hospitality.

Set design, under the expert guidance of Mr Stephen Penders, and costumes expertly co-ordinated by Mrs Rosemary McElroy, add to the enjoyment of this hilarious 1940's musical. The main characters are Rachael Campbell (Mikado), Eidhne Gallagher (Ko Ko), Eimhin McElligott (Nanki Poo), Helen Keenan (Yum Yum), Stacey Cooney (Petti Sing), Aine Nar (Peep Bo), Rachel Hannon (Pish Tush), Aislinn McPhillips (Pooh Bah), Rachael McGlade (Karisha).

There is one more performance tonight Thurs 27th October ~ commencing at 8pm sharp. Tickets cost of €10 or €25 for a family ticket.
