Emyvale Leisure Centre

EMYVALE LEISURE CENTRE

The Annual General Meeting of Emyvale Leisure Centre was held last week. Clubs represented were: North Monaghan Social Services; Emyvale GAA Club; Emy Belles; Donagh Community Games; Donagh Basketball Club. Outgoing Secretary Paula Mc Aree gave a detailed report outlining the activities and developments during the year. The main one was the expansion of the room upstairs to accommodate the large numbers that are attending the boxing club training sessions. As a result of this, the kitchen on the first floor had to be demolished and this should be replaced at the other end of the landing within the next couple of weeks.  Outgoing Treasurer Monica Mc Kernan produced a healthy balance sheet proving once again that Emyvale Leisure Centre is a lucrative enterprise.  Outgoing Chairperson Fabian Murphy welcomed all those present and thanked all those who contribute so much to the successful running of the centre. He thanked especially the two supervisors Eamonn Farmer and Ryan O’Neill for the smooth running of the centre and for their help and courtesy to users of the centre; to Patricia Mc Vicar who keeps the centre clean and tidy; to Louise Duffy and the CES workers for all their work in the centre during the year; the committee though small in number, who work hard to ensure that the centre is run efficiently. The following committee was elected: Chairperson: Fabian Murphy; Vice-Chairperson: Keith Murphy; Secretary: Paula Mc Aree; Ass. Secretary: Geraldine Finn; Treasurer: Monica Mc Kernan; PRO: Eamon Mc Kernan; Committee: Marie Murphy, Seamus Mc Aree; Seamus O’Neill; Enda O’Brien; Eugene O’Brien.  Votes of sympathy were passed to the families of all those who died during the year  especially Pat Farmer who was a former committee member and Geraldine Duffy, wife of Seamus who was also a former committee member.
