Hurling League Final 2011

Truagh reached the final of the County Senior Hurling league, which they played against Castleblayney in Rooskey, Monaghan, on Saturday, October 15th. Weather conditions were poor for hurling with a strong breeze and a steady drizzle of rain throughout the game. Conditions were slippery and difficult but both teams showed great commitment and determination to take the victory. Castleblayney built up a 7 point lead before the interval but Truagh were always dangerous and with a bit of luck could have been much closer. They tried their best during the second half but Blayney played defensive and kept them at bay ending the game with a similar lead. Blayney did start favourites and have the tradition behind them but Truagh has been increasing their standing in hurling circles and have put in a great effort. Sooner rather than later that work is going to pay dividends.
