CAN YOU HELP?:
Henry Blackburn, who is a member of Tydavnet Parish, needs help in tracing people, and if you can help he would appreciate if you could contact this site with your contact details and I will pass them on to him. The story is as follows: Patrick James Cunningham was a member of the British army and when he retired from that he became Caretaker of Monaghan Collegiate School around 1972. He and his wife lived in a small house on the left hand side along the Monaghan to Castleblayney just past the entrance to the Collegiate. They later moved to Ballinode (Drumlinn?) behind Ballinode Creamery. It is told that his wife died as a result of burns. He and his wife are buried in Tydavnet Graveyard but there is no marker on their grave. However there is a board with all the deaths in the graveyard but they are not recorded on it. Henry is trying to make contact with relatives who were at the funeral. It is thought that they were from Tyrone. After the burial the friends all went to Tommy McElroy’s pub in Tydavnet. Henry has no way of contacting them and there is no record in the Death Register office. Hopefully there is someone out there who might streer him in the right direction so that he can get them recorded. He will appreciate any help he can get. Contact us here at the site if you have any information which might help. Thank you
