Emyvale U16s 2 - 13  V  Monaghan Harps 1 - 11

This was a tough game for Emyvale and it took a very spirited performance to gain the victory. Monaghan Harps were anxious to get the points from this game to qualify for the semi-finals stages and on form they should have. They defeated Carrickmacross easily last week while Emyvale suffered a defeat at the hands of Truagh. However Emyvale showed a great determination and some excellent individual performances. It was the hunger to win which was more apparent from the Scarna lads that won the day as there is a strong bunch of talented boys on the Harps side. I don’t normally comment on referees and most times it would be critical if I did as I feel poor decision making by referees spoil many games and many players and the frustration caused by errors of judgement and faulty decisions usually ends with a scrappy and bad tempered game with a RED card showing up somewhere before the final whistle and I have been at some of those recently. On this occasion I commend John Paul Moyna on a good performance as he allowed play to flow but kept a tight rein on the game without being conspicuous.
