Comhaltas Presentations

Comhaltas decided this year to honour people who have given great service to the Irish Language over many years. Monaghan Comhaltas asked each of the eight Comhaltas branches in the county to nominate a person from their area. Four of these were present at a function in Urbleshanny Hall on Thursday, May 31st and they received their special medals from Pauline Rooney. Their was a surprise for Pauline as the committee had decided that she deserved one too and Mary Kirke made a presentation to her. The four other recipients were: Seamus McCluskey, Emyvale; Sean O’Rathallaigh, Carrickmacross; Paddy Greene, Castleblayney and Annie Butler, Eamonn O’Muiri in Scotstown. The night also had a Table Quiz as Gaeilge agus Bearla agus Mackie mar cheisteoir. Bhí fun agus craic ag gach duine agus bhuaigh foirm as Drumhowan, sílim, an chéad duais a bhronn Town of Monaghan Co-op.
