12 day tour of Canada
Visiting the Twined Provinces of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and
Nova Scotia
16th July – 27th July 2008
Day 1: Wed. 16th July fly Dublin to Toronto and Halifax,
Nova Scotia.
Visit the Old Triangle Bar and restaurant. Overnight stay in Hallifax.
Day 2: Thurs. 17th July Coach Tour of Halifax City visiting Titanic Museum and Graveyard and Pier 21 Museum. Coach drive to Miramichi, New Brunswick, taking in the festival fireworks display and entertainment in Miramichi. Stay at Rodd Hotel Miramichi.
Day 3: Fri 18th July Morning visit to Pow Wow settlement and tour of the Miramachi City. Afternoon free. 6 p.m, attend the opening of the 25th annual Irish Festival and join in the festivities.
Day 4: Sat 19th July. Lead the Festival band parade through the city of Miramichi. Spend the rest of the day joining in the festivities.
Day 5: Sun 20th July. Morning, breakfast and attend Sunday Services. Afternoon visit to Middle Island, Irish Historical Park, which is a historic quarantine station for Irish immigrants. Evening attend Mc Kenna Clan International Rally.
Day 6: Mon 21st July. Morning, coach tour of Miramachi region Arcadian settlement. Afternoon free for sight seeing and shopping. 8 p.m, attend Irish/Canadian entertainment in O Donoghue’s Irish Pub, Miramachi.
Day 7: Tues 22nd July. Coach departs for 220m drive to Prince Edward Island, crossing the 9miles long, world famous Confederation Bridge, one of the longest bridges in the world. With shopping en route. Arrive at Prince Edward Island with evening at leisure. Stay at Cavendish Resort Hotel.
Day 8: Wed 23rd July. Guided tour of the towns, Summerside
and Kensington. Arrive in Tignish and meet with Tignish Irish Association
for guided tour, reception and evenings entertainment.
Day 9: Thurs 24th July. Visit Fort Augustus area. Evening
hosted by Fort Augustus Irish Community with barbeque and entertainment.
Day 10: Fri 25th July. Morning visit to the famous Ann of Green Gables museum. Visit Charlottetown, Capital of Prince Edward Island. Lunch in the Old Dubliner restaurant. Afternoon time for shopping and visit Irish Settlers Memorial. A night time ceile will be hosted by the Benevolent Irish Society.
Day 11: Sat 26th July. Visit Emyvale Church and Graveyard and Irish settlement of Kincora. Evening attend the Emerald Irish Festival in this 100% Irish region of Prince Edward Island.
Day 12: Sun 27th July. Visit Kelly’s Cross (formally known as Errigal Truagh) for Church services and reception by Kelly’s Cross Community in the local centre. Depart for Hallifax, Nova Scotia and flight home.
