World Champion Dancer. Sunday March 31st 2024 will be remembered as the day a World Champion Dancer came home to a great reception and it was a great day for Monaghan and North Monaghan in particular. Patrick Corrigan was declared the World Champion at the World Dance finals held in Killarney during the past week. Then we add to that the fact that Patrick’s sister, Connie, was also a winner in the Freestyle and Solo Reel among other dances and to cap it outright the Brogan School of Dancing (Scoil Rince Ní Bhrógain) won the Overall Freestyle section. Congratulations to all but huge congratulations to Patrick for his achievement in coming home as a World Champion. It was decided to have a reception in St. Mellans on Sunday evening and a cavalcade of cars travelled with him from Monaghan to Truagh. From Emyvale to St. Mellans he was escorted by the Gardai and a huge crowd along the way and St. Mellans awaited his arrival. There were handshakes all round and eventually Patrick and the crowd went into St. Mellans and had a great evening with music, dancing, refreshments and plenty of praise for Patrick and the winners. Congratulations then to Patrick, Connie and the dancers from the Brogan School on this wonderful achievement and congrats too to those who brought them to this world level in dance.
